The progress of logic and knowledge of the physical world during the Scientific Revolution was constantly?
Q. The progress of logic and knowledge of the physical world during the Scientific Revolution was constantly at odds with the oppositional force of religion and mysticism. How were average Europeans, and the scientists themselves, affected by the dilemma created by these forces?
Asked by no one - Wed Dec 10 21:05:29 2008 - - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Average europeans were largely unaffected until the end - when the scientific revolution and the industrial revolution coincided, at which point exploitation of the average european was rampant. (Coal mining/textiles in Britain for example - brutal child labor, etc) Scientists during the scientific revolution were rarely celebrated. Galileo for example died under house arrest authorized by the catholic church. In short - challenging the world view that has been the status quo for so long is not easy. Even today, when commonly held views are shown to be false by scientists it creates a great deal of offense. And delaying advances in science (whether by persecution or by patent laws) generally hurts the average person.

How do you do a progress chart for a sponsored long distance cycle ride ?
Q. In 3 weeks time, my son and 3 of his mates are doing a sponsored cycle ride. LEJOG ( Lands End to John O,Groats ) His sponsors would like to follow their daily progress. Any ideas how you go about it ?
Asked by Nightingale - Wed Aug 19 07:02:15 2009 - - 3 Answers - Comments
A. Your son and his friends can get a free membership to bikejournal.com. They can also create a club for the 4 of them to join. Sponsors can see their mileage totals by just knowing their screen names. If they want to make the individual journals accessible, then they need to join the web site for $20 / year, but that's optional. HTH

How do i calculate a progress completion percentage?
Q. I have a total value of 81. I then have 3 progress values of 20, 10 and 2. I would like to calculate the completion percentage of these numbers compared to the total. How can I do it?
Asked by Paul T - Mon Sep 8 07:46:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - Comments
A. A.) If x + y + z = 81 let a = 20 for x; b = 10 for y; c = 2 for z then (20/x) + (10/y) + (2/z) = 81 therefore: % of Completion = (((20/x) + (10/y) + (2/z))/81)*100 B.) If x + y + z = 81 let x = 20; y = 10; z = 2 therefore: % of Completion = (((x) + (y) + (z))/81)*100 = (((20) + (10) + (2))/81)*100 = ((20 + 10 + 2)/81)*100 = (32/81)*100 = 39.51%

How do I face my parents with a bad progress report?
Q. A progress report in my school isn't an official grade, but more like a heads up on your current grade. My progress report said that I have 2 D's, and the rest of the grades are A's and B's. My parents are not the strictest in the world but they do fuss over me with every little bad thing I do. Well the main thing is, how do I confront my parents with a bad progress report?
Asked by JohnakaJohn - Thu Mar 4 02:53:11 2010 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Confront? Confrontations are done in anger, that won't help anything. First why are you getting those D's? Is there work you can still turn in to bring the grade up? Is there any extra credit work you can do? You need to approach them calmly. Show them the report, then tell them what is missing and what you intend to do to bring the grade up. Then ask for their help, if needed. Who could be angry with that? You have showed them a problem, with that the solution. All your parents want is for you to become a responsible adult. If you do this, it will show them that you are well on your way. Take a Deep Breath- Stay Calm!

How can I progress the healing of a burst blood vessel in my eyes?
Q. I've been sick {coughing, fever, sore throat, congestion} for around 4 days and from the energy I guess of my coughing I burst a blood vessel in my eyes. How can I progress the healing in some way to heal the blood vessel?
Asked by Timmy'sGirl - Sat Feb 28 20:00:18 2009 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Hi Gaga. Most of the time, the signs of the burst blood vessel clear up without treatment, usually within 10 days. You may be able to prevent recurrences by taking vitamin C, about 200 mg a day, which helps strengthen the walls of little blood vessels, and also by taking grape seed extract or pycnogenol, which contain antioxidant pigments that do the same. That way, heaing should progress faster. Regards ~ Josh Tam

A. Actually, Dell Computers aren't bad, especially when it comes to technical support. I'm guessing what you are talking about is the auto-adjust of your monitor, though. If this is happening all the time, while the computer is running, then your monitor may be going out. The monitor should only auto-adjust whenever the video format being supplied to it changes. You might try connecting another monitor to it as a test. Otherwise, hit-up the Dell Support web site. You'll need the Service Tag number off the back of your computer. Enter the service tag on the following web site and all the known problems, fixes, and latest driver downloads for your computer will be easily accessible: Dell is really good about that. How can I see the progress of the things Im downloading?
Q. Before when I was downloading things, a folder like thing would open up, showing the downloads I have downloaded and the ones that I currently I am downloading. It would say how much time is left in it. Now that folder doesnt show up anymore? I know they are being completed because its showing all downloads have been finished at the bottom of the screen. How can I see the progress again right at the start of the download? Thank you.
Asked by James - Sun Jun 27 22:44:53 2010 - - 1 Answers - Comments
A. It could be that you have changed a setting accidentally. OR SOME programs use their own download manager and do NOT show a "progress notification" Check your "help" section for download settings help, or similar headings. (Different versions of windows, and other OSs, call things differently AND put them in different places.)

What was the weaponry progress though out the Middle Ages?
Q. What was the first cannon? What was the first gun? What was the weaponry progress though out the entire Middle Ages/Medieval Times?
Asked by Rosalie - Wed Jan 27 17:51:58 2010 - - 1 Answers - Comments
A. The cannon was a long while becoming an importaint piece of the action. The major important developments were the Welch longbow of Yew and the crossbow, both of which could pierce the armor both of men and horses to break cavalry charges. The longbow came in suddenly and arrived at acceptance rapidly in the mid-to-late 1200s. The range of the weapon was previously unheard of, undreamed of. Cannon were limited in use because the gun crews had to mix their own powder and gather rocks to shoot through them. The castings had a way of bursting if they attempted rapid fire and they frequently came from the molds with flaws cutting their lifespan to a single firing.

How easy is it for the school to print out copy of progress report?
Q. Some how I lost my sons progress report and I need it to apply to another(better) school. I'm assuming it should be fairly easy to have the secretary at the front office to print another one out for me? Or is there some process I need to go through? Thanks!

A. Why don't you call the school and ask them? Sometimes walking in and hitting someone up when they might be very busy can be frustrating for everyone. But call and give them a little notice that you'll be coming by to pick it up.

How do you keep your cats off your puzzles in progress?
Q. My daughter and I have a table in the living room where we like to keep out, with our puzzles that we are working on. We dont like putting them away everytime, because its much more inviting to work on if its already out and easily accessable. Our cats love to jump on the table and knock out pieces onto the floor and just destroy our progress. Does anyone know if there are anything like "puzzles protectors" out there that I can make or buy...like a cover of some sort? A towel or sheet doesnt work.

A. Personally I check my weight daily. Some people say this will drive you nuts but it keeps me honest. When I am at my goal weight I will still check it daily to make sure I don't stray too far from where I want to be. Some people measure inches around their waste, some people pick an article of clothing that doesn't fit and try it on periodically. Pick what works for you. -S

How to progress Guitar playing ability further?
Q. I've been playing for around two years now and would like to progress further on the guitar. I'm finding that songs I really want to play tend to be beyond my ability so what advice can you give me? What should I look at learning? I've had lessons for two years however I'm leaving high school next year so I probably wont get any more lessons
Asked by Jim is Jebus - Fri Jul 18 12:31:22 2008 - - 5 Answers - Comments
A. Start listening to new kinds of music that'll help influence your playing style. Some good examples would be Hendrix, Clapton, The Who, just try to listen to new kinds of music. I usually listen to deathcore and stuff, but I still look to other music styles to broaden my style. Also, for the songs that you have trouble with, if it's simply speed or accuracy, just play the song at a slower pace, working it up very slowly until you can play the song cleanly and at the right pace. Speed is a byproduct of accuracy, always remember that!

A. To my knowledge, there is no way of checking on the progress. Once it goes to court and is finalized, she will be notified by mail.
