Can I put alloy wheels that comes with the new model for old honda shine without replacing tyres and brakes?

A. I think you can.Because the rim size and profile of the tires are the same... SO you can fit them on without any modifications.

Do alloy wheels really get better gas mileage?
Q. I've heard that alum-alloy wheels give you better gas mileage than steel because they're lighter. Makes sense, but I'm wondering if anyone has switched from steel to alloy and had it make enough of a gas mileage difference for them to notice it. Wondering whether the gas money I'll save over time is anywhere comparable to the cost of buying new wheels.

A. Any weight reduction will have an impact on gas mileage, especially rotating weight (mass, technically), but I'd be very surprised if the difference was enough to notice going from steel to alloy. Consider that your vehicle weighs at least 3000 lbs, while the weight savings is at most a few pounds per wheel. Less than 1% change in weight...

How much does it cost to fit alloy wheels?
Q. I've got a BMW 3 series (318i). It's got alloy wheels but I fancy changing them to something with a different look. I know very little about cars (so I wouldn't try and do this myself). Assuming I can buy a set of alloys for about 700, how much would it cost to have them fitted and could I just do this at (eg.) Kwikfit?
Asked by TJ200 - Wed Aug 19 06:40:57 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. as long as the stud gap and number of studs are the same as the original you can usually change them over yourself as its just like changing a puncture. just make sure the new wheels arent too big for the arch. i.e 16 inch wheels with 70mm tyre should match 17 inch and 50mm as the overall size is almost the same

What is a good method to remove break dust from aluminum alloy rims?
Q. My car has a bunch of break dust built up on the rims and I can't get it off with conventional soap and water. It's only a problem visually, but I would like the rims to be clean. They are aluminum alloy. I don't want to use a chemical that will damage the rim. Just wondering if anyone had success with a specific cleaning agent any help is appreciated.

A. For the past several years our shop has used Gold Glass All Wheel cleaner by Meguiars. It runs about $6.00 a bottle at any parts store. It's completely safe on the aluminum and cuts through baked on brake dust very well. For the most part any aluminum compatible wheel cleaner is going to do the trick. Most parts stores carry 10-12 brands of wheel cleaning products. You can find a cheaper alternative to the Meguiar product but you'll probably spend a bit more time scrubbing. If you really want to make the wheels "pop" invest in some Meguiars Mag and Aluminum Polish. You'll be astounded at the difference it makes in the overall shine. This product is only to be applied to a perfectly cleaned wheel! It runs about $8.00 a tin. It can be… [cont.]

A. Here in the USA, there is a company that sells a tool to use in your electric drill. It has a large, fluffy bonnet on it, that spins, and you use the polish they recommend. I don't know the name of the product, but some detective work might get it for you! We have a product named "Mother's Mag Polish", that might do what you want. Available at most auto supply companies.

A. There can be lot's of differences, including melting point, hardness, toughness, corrosion resistance - I don't think you can really predict them. Some examples: Steel (An alloy of iron) makes the iron much harder and tougher Stainless Steel (An alloy of iron with Ni and Chomium added) is much more corrosion resistant. Bronze (An alloy of copper and tin (I think, or is it Zinc)), is much stronger than the others in the pure state. I hope this helps

How many ounces of each were used to make 50 ounces of gold alloy costing $250 per ounce?
Q. A goldsmith combined pure gold that cost $400 per ounce with an alloy of gold that cost $150 per ounce. How many ounces of each were used to make 50 ounces of gold alloy costing $250 per ounce?
Asked by dycosta69 - Tue Oct 7 01:14:06 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You have 50 ounces of the alloy, of which x ounces are pure gold. Thus, how much of the $150 per ounce alloy have you? Why, 50-x ounces. Now, you're going to invest 400*x + 150*(50-x) to make this alloy. It's going to be at $250 an ounce, so make your life easy and say that: (400x+150(50-x))/50 = 250 Clean that up: factor out the fifty on the left... 8 x + 3(50-x) = 250 8x + 150 - 3x = 250 5x = 100 x = 20 and thus, 20 ounces of the pure gold, 30 ounces of the alloy. Check: 20*400 + 30* 150 = 8000 + 4500 = 12500 12500/50 = 250

A. if you don't have a place in town (check out foundries and companies which recycle metal) you will have to have to order it via the internet and have it shipped. A company which sells a lot of different metals alloys is atlas metals, check them out. I am sure there are more. I don't think beer cans are good for casting. They are probably not pure aluminum either, and I am sure they are no fun to melt down, they probably fly right out of the furnace unless a lot of them are heavily compacted.

M5 and carbon go to the top-of-the-line specialized bikes. but all these alloys are made by specialized llc., so dont expect to see "M5" on a trek or something

How do I clean my stock alloy wheels?
Q. I have a 1995 Saturn SC1 with stock alloy wheels. Sadly, I have never cleaned them, only when I go to the car wash, but they are bad. From the winter the salt from salt trucks have stuck to the wheels, during the summer, dirt and tar have stuck to the wheels. It is building up and it looks horibble? I have tried the soap and water, doesn't work. These are some tough "stains." What product out there will clean this or some at home technique?

A. You can try using a degreaser/cleaner, spray on the degreaser then use a brillo pad, but dont rub to hard, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe away with warm water, and repeat if necessary.
